Kimball's fluid, organic "life-form" shapes place this canvas within the Biomorphic Abstraction movement, with organic life-form silhouettes and charcoal-drawn contours. Influenced by European Surrealists Miró and Dalí. Kimball carried these influences into his American abstract-figurative work.
Restrained palette, suited for gallery and mid-century modern interiors.
Very good vintage condition. Canvas is taut, paint layer is stable. Frame shows only light, age-consistent wear honest to its six-decade provenance.
Born 1929 in New York City, trained at Delgado School of Art and under sculptor Robert Nix. Known for mid-20th-century abstract figurative works. His 1960s-70s canvases are collected for both gallery walls and architectural interiors.
